and so it begins…
The Southsea Spirit story began in 2020 when friends Harriet and Lauren purchased a mobile bar trading as The Gin Emporium. Just as they got started, lockdown hit. To adapt and keep going, they began producing bottled cocktails with a local distillery—a way to spread a little joy during a tough time. In 2021, they launched Southsea Spirit Gin, and after its success, they opened the doors to Southsea Spirit on Albert Road in 2023—a warm and welcoming space for the community to come together and enjoy great drinks.
A New Chapter
In 2024, Lauren decided to pursue new ventures, allowing Harriet’s sister Charlotte to come on board. With her infectious energy and natural talent for hosting, Charlotte has played a key role in transforming Southsea Spirit into more than just a bar—together, the sisters have created a welcoming space where everyone feels like part of their family.
Best Bar, Best Vibe
Having won Best Bar in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in July 2024, Southsea Spirit is celebrated for its standout offerings, unique events, and warm, friendly vibe. Whether it’s a lively quiz, Margarita Thursdays, or an intimate gathering with friends, Harriet and Charlotte have worked tirelessly to make Southsea Spirit a bar that’s anything but ordinary.
At the heart of everything they do is their shared passion for their creation and their pride in Southsea’s community. It’s this sister-led spirit that makes Southsea Spirit not just a bar but a home away from home.
